Hallelujah Painting

One of my favourite songs is "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley, originally written and recorded by Leonard Cohen in 1984 for his album "Various Positions". Although Cohen released the song as a single in Spain and the Netherlands, it received little attention in the United States. Jeff Buckley discovered the song in the early '90s and began performing it at his shows around New York City. He later included it on his 1994 debut album "Grace", but it wasn't until after Buckley's death in 1997 that the song gained widespread attention and renewed interest in his work. Many artists have since covered "Hallelujah", and the song has been featured in movies and TV shows, reaching a wider audience. The song's lyrics describe a love that has soured and gone stale, using religious imagery and references to women in the Bible. The line "But remember when I moved in you and the holy dove was moving too" Leonard Cohen has explained that "Hallelujah" is a Hebrew word that means "Glory to the Lord". The song highlights that there are many kinds of "Hallelujahs" that exist, and that all perfect and broken "Hallelujahs" have equal value. Cohen's desire was to affirm his faith in life, not in a formal religious way, but with enthusiasm and emotion, and I do feel the same.
