This is one of a series of paintings drawn from a 'sixties TV dance show. The song is Louie Louie performed by the KIngsmen and to my mind never improved upon. He's the best dancer in the room and he attracts all the girls. He makes them look good and they feel good. His moves are the best; he has rhythm, he has style, the music lives in him, no-one can touch him. And he needs no-one; on the floor he is alone as one girl after another swings by in a appreciative orbit. He doesn't know them, perhaps he doesn't even see them, he dances alone.

I trained as a painter at the old Walthamstow School of Art before qualifying as a teacher of Art and after a episodic career teaching art and art history at schools, colleges and universities I became a full time painter in 2008. I was always drawn to abstraction - having an art education in the '60's it was hard to avoid - and have continued to plough that furrow.
