About The Artwork
Helmand #5 explores a darker side of the human mind and its interaction with conflict and war. Dark thoughts are intertwined with the visions of hope and future. This is a one of a kind experiment in introspection 2 years in the making. I began painting this "cross-roads" theme after returning from deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. The range of human emotions that one can experience was a meditative introspection for myself. My thoughts and memories were put onto canvas. The painting is UV varnished (semi-gloss) for longevity and protection. Fully painted black sides make this piece ready to hang and become your centerpiece.
