Brian Cutting was born and raised in the west coast city of Santa Monica, California. Growing up, he enjoyed sketching but preferred to be outside skateboarding or playing sports. At the age of 12 he began surfing which quickly became a lifelong passion for him. His first paintings were gifts for his mother who enjoyed cottage landscape scenes. He later combined his love of surfing and painting with a series of wave related pieces. Nature and family are also featured in his work. Brian feels that in this hectic world his art should transport the viewer to a place filled with love, family, the beauty and power of nature, peace and tranquility. His paintings have a unique impressionist style with a dreamlike quality to them.
