Holding Onto Hope Painting

"Holding onto Hope" is a mixed media on 100% cotton rag, archival, acid free paper. This is a figurative (female) image. This is an encaustic technique, using pigment and wax. The paper measures approximately 30" x 22" I would crop in on the paper to reveal an image of approximately 27" x 20" through the opening in a mat. This is one in a series of my Hope pieces using the Paper Crane imagery. The female is in a seated position and the crane comes into greater focus, the paper crane is the symbol of hope and healing in challenging times. So I allowed the figure to become part of the negative space in areas or partially dissolve to keep the focus on the crane. Enjoy, this uses almost the full extent of the archival paper. Add a deep mat of 5 - 6" or more and then your frame. This piece does require glass. It is an encaustic using wax and pigment. Fine art never should be displayed in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Just enjoy, as her foot then shadow lead your eye to the paper crane.
