Beverly Woodhall has been painting in her studio, located in the small coastal town of Beaufort, NC. She uses a colorful pallet often focusing on shades of blues and greens. Through these small, quaint, brightly colored paintings, she is interested in the dynamics of gentrification and preservation of small town neighborhoods. Beverly, has been pulling inspiration from the vast collection of photographs she has taken over the years of mainly historic homes along with the often overlooked, ignored modest, even neglected houses that have remained in place. The viewer is left to enjoy the charm her diminutive paintings bring, as well as to ponder the meanings her of her art. She shows us pretty pictures can hold deeper meaning if we choose to look that way.
