My name is Sue Nicholas and I am a fine artist who works in predominantly acrylic painting as well as digital format and print. I have a BA Hons Fine Art from Goldsmiths College 1980, where I studied under Bert Irwin, Basil Beattie and Michael Craig Martin. An earlier career in collage/sculpture after leaving Goldsmiths under my maiden name of Susan Dale is credited in the reference book “Artists in Britain since 1945, volume , David Buckman. Since 2015 I have exhibited extensively regionally in galleries in the U.K. internationally and digitally online. Currently my work is represented by the Laura I Art Gallery at https://www.lauraiartgallery.com. Artists Statement I am inspired by neuro-scientific investigations of universal consciousness which equate consciousness with differing frequencies of energy within matter. My work is motivated by an awareness of the nature and energetic rhythms of the unique consciousness and life force energy pulsating personally within me. My focus on my own variable “Thought Patterns” as the context of each painting allows me to imaginatively map my own energetic identity as consciousness in the process Each work materialises intuitive thought processes, playfully developing, colliding and displacing geometrical and optical formats in colour interactions in space allowing the development of extensive ranges of pattern variations. The visual relationships are adjusted and built in layers of colour and can exist behind, beside or in front of each other, creating interactive episodes that are all in focus and encourage active viewing. The vivid polychromatic acrylic and digital paintings explore and develop a distinctive range of complex rhythmic nonfigurative patterns that are intuitively created by hand.
