This painting came out of nowhere last year (2020). It is painted on canvas which is not as unusual for me as before as I often prefer working on large paper. I never aimed to paint the subject, but at the time the painting was nearing completion I could find/see the utter bleakness that I can only imagine is the aftermath of 'winning' a truly destructive conflict, whether that is a world war or a fight against a global virus.
