Imaginary Björk portrait Painting

This painting is constructed via several unique methods originated by Aston Philip. His process of manipulating dry paint in fine strips like a tapestry or textile and in larger pieces collaging gestures and painterly effects is complemented with sharp hard edge painting to form a textured yet polished portrait. Inspired by Japanese anime and video game characters this visage started as a style more and a someone however this 'no-one' reminded Aston of friends, acquaintances and celebrities. Just like the woven and layered paint the image was made from, the figure represented had connections to many possibilities. The forever transforming and reinventing Björk was chosen for the title in reverence.
