Jeux d'Eau à Tüttlingen (Light Effects On The Danube) Painting

This canvas comes from a picture of a young boy fishing into the Danube, in Tüttlingen in Germany not far from the source of the river. But in this painting JFL has symbolized the child by a white circle in the water. This shape is attractive and gives movement and light to the entire composition. The water pond seems to be vibrating and these vibrations are extending into the sky. The look goes from the circle in the water to a smaller one in the sky. The reflecting of the landscape, perfect in this painting but that would have been impossible in the real world with an unquiet water surface is contributing to give at the sight a balanced blend between serenity and complexity.
