About The Artwork

Lethe was a mythological river. The legend tells that it's enough to touch its water to forget everything, the good and the evil, to live in a state of oblivion. I thought that it was an evocative metaphor to talk about alcoholism as a way to forget an emotional dependence. That's why the wine in the foreground is flowing like a river. This surrealist oil on canvas talks is part of the story told in the collection "The lands where we loved", inspired by the styles of De Chirico and Magritte, two of my favourite painters. In this collection the characters don't have a specific gender: they are androgynous to be close to the lgbt ideal of love, a modern vision that tells that love is born between people and not between genders.
