About The Artwork
The prompt for this piece was 'London', my home city for five years before I moved to the North. I wanted to convey the pace and colour of the city, and a lot of emotion came through in my movements with the brush. My most organic strokes are short and horizontal, implying high energy for a short time, reflecting my personality and the vibe of the city. This piece is a representation of my memory of and affection for my old home, coupled with the stormy weather I loved so much and the speed of life. I don't add hanging hardware to any of my pieces to allow maximum flexibility for displaying anywhere.

I am a young visual artist based in Leeds city centre. Heavily influenced by Abstract Expressionists like Rothko and Action Painters like Kline, my work explores organic movement and bold colour. I work mainly with acrylic paint and plywood, always on the ground and always barefoot. I experiment with oil on transparent acrylic when painting portraits, and also incorporating poetry, both original and a variety of other poets.
