About The Artwork
Reflective, personal self portrait by a student of the University of the Arts London. Self representation, internal conflict, struggle for identity in art. Cold tones and fleshy skin colours. The subject is framed softly by a receding haze in darkening tones of blue. A high dynamic range of light and dark tones between the highlights and shadows contrast the soft background. The harsh light comes in from the right of the frame highlighting the figure. The shroud is painted in smooth tones juxtaposed with the harsher strokes in the flesh. Mood of pensive sadness, as if in front of a mirror dissatisfied.
