This nine piece artwork explores the concept of being lost, physically and mentally, and can be hung in any of the four key variations. Variation 1 shows native American Indian symbols that are linked to journeys and temporary homelands, as the Indians themselves have been displaced from their homeland and feel themselves lost. Variation 2 shows map references for a point on planet earth famed for humans getting lost or disappearing altogether. Variation 3 is a compass, which itself becomes fragmented, confused and lost in the other variations, and Variation 4 shows a once inhabited island where lost souls went to gain direction and enlightenment. The painting itself was completed in four stages; first the island was painted, then all nine canvases rotated clockwise. Next the compass was added, canvases rotated, Indian symbols, rotation, and finally the map references added. The final piece creates a sense of confusion and being lost and can be hung however the owner wishes. All canvases are numbered on the back, with instructions as to how they can be placed for each variation.

Most recently Stephen's work has been featured in "And Now For The Good News (works from the Annette & Peter Nobel Art Collection)", at the Pera Museum, Turkey. Born in 1962 Stephen is a child of post war popular culture. His creativity began in '67 when his father set up a photographic darkroom in a cupboard under the stairs. There they made primitive b&w pictures, and Stephen hasn't stopped creating since. His work has been collected by Mark Bezos and many others around the world, and he likes to think his work gives pleasure, entertains and creates discussion.
