About The Artwork
It is a painterly reflection on Ignacy Lukasiewicz, considered the Pride of Poland, inventor of the famous kerosene lamp and pioneer of the oil industry, whose 200th birthday is celebrated in 2022. Lukasiewicz was a Polish pharmacist, engineer, businessman, inventor, and philanthropist. He was a pioneer who in 1856 built the world's first modern oil refinery. His achievements included the discovery of how to distil kerosene from seep oil, the invention of the modern kerosene lamp, the introduction of the first modern streetlamp in Europe, and the construction of the world's first modern oil well. This painting is my homage to the great man.
