Magic Carpet 1 Magic Carpet Series Pigments on Hardboard This is the first Magic Carpet that I painted. It is done in oils and pigments and also water based colours. It was painted around 2002. At the time I just thought it would be fun to paint a magic carpet. When I had painted it it made me think of atoms and molecules and the channels of blood within the body: as if we ourselves are magic carpets. Later, as I thought about it more, I began to conceive of the magic carpets as being metaphorical methods of transportation...then I wondered where we needed to go. And I realised we needed to go forward...to raise ourselves to greater compassion and understanding, to get an idea of our role within the universe. When we are children the world seems a magical and wonderful place...and I believe that this is really how it is. When we are older we tend to forget this and become cynical...so I would like to help keep this sense of wonder alive, because it will help us to live better and to make a better world for us all.

All new artwork on instagram Kisaartbristol. All paintings will be signed prior to despatch. 100% of sale price from all paintings (minus cost of delivery and saatchi commission) will be donated to Compassion in World Farming - an organisation that works to end the suffering of animals in industrial farming and secure their right to a decent life. My paintings are intended to uplift the human spirit, inspire and give strength to future generations so that we can build a fairer, kinder, brighter world and fulfill our role as intelligent guardians of this planet. I would like them to be as flames on the wall, cheering in the darkness, greeting their owners with warmth and colour, filling their hearts with strength, optimism and hope.
