About The Artwork

This impressionist work is based on the sculpture at the UNESCO World heritage temple at Tanjore in Southern India. The temple was built around 1010 AD and is famous for its art and culture. Many artists have been attracted to the marvelous structure and i'm no exception. I have painted this on a deep edged gallery wrapped canvas with Gesso, Pebeo Modeling paste and Golden Coarse pumice gel with Amsterdam studio acrylics. The modeling paste gives a strong texture and the coarse gel a feel of the sculpture itself giving the painting a certain dimensional effect. There is coat of Winsor and Newton varnish for protection. The artist signature is bottom right of the painting View on full screen mode to see the details of the layers used for the visual effect

Born in India in 1976, now living in Norway, Sriram is a self-taught artist who took to painting in his late 30s. Sriram's paintings showcase people on the move in their daily life from the places he has lived and travelled around the globe. His favourite subjects are people on the streets going about their daily lives from young to old, from reading to walking their pets to browsing or just a chit-chat. After exploring art with acrylics, Sriram settled into paint with watercolours as its fluidity allowed him to experiment with light and the non-existence of it. The ebb and flow of water and pigments is what his paintings showcase. His works depict that side of humans who sometimes absorbed in their world tend to forget what moves around them. People are core to his paintings. Its not so much about the anatomy but its the lines and shapes, edges, light and shadow that reveals the mood of the subject. He also enjoys exploring other mediums such as Oils for small and affordable art focussing on plien air landscapes, still life and figurative subjects at his home studio. Having graduated in Bachelors of Commerce, Sriram currently works fulltime in IT. As a self-taught artist, his passion for drawing and painting means that every work has turned into a learning process. His inspirations are some of the contemporary artists such as Alvaro Castagnet, Eudes Corriea, Joseph Zbukvic, Graham Berry, Rajkumar Stabathy, Dan Garzino, Craig Stephen
