As you might imagine, the descriptions are a tad off; limitation of set terminology, not deception. As you may know by now, I paint on well nigh anything I can find, and love recycling. Trash day here is Tuesday and, as everywhere I have lived, I am amazed at the things people throw away. New York City was the most amazing. There I didn't have my truck; here I do. a block over I saw a fifty-sixty-year-old heavy dining room table. I took the two horizontal pieces and display my paper works on them. the leaf/structural support (I know not which) got painted. My dentist saw it on Facebook and said,:wow, did you have to get all that stuff off there?" I said no, that I had just primed it. I think it garnered the most response a new posting ever did. It looks on the primitive side, but is smooth, despite the mix of materials. There a couple of holes in the dark parts that have screws in them for hanging. It need a pretty good support, but they easily could be filled and the piece differently hung. I think viewers will be knocked over, say, coming into a dining room seeing it wedged in between two-three "squattier" ones. On the other hand, I would love to be commissioned to do two more, so that buyer would have a set of three. I would have to do it on wood panel, but it would be the same dimension as Maple Leaf. At the time I painted the piece, I was into the first set of "Mesopotamian" syle panels, and also did some on paper and Maple Leaf. All would be nothing if not sturdy!

I am a retired opera/ concert singer, jack of all trades and teacher, now painter and writer who would like to sell some if his artworks and get the story of his life published as a book, or the chapters as articles: book is "Asparagus in My Tuba: The Strains of an Absentee Gardener". Married to great pianist and teacher, Arlene Shrut. I have more extended artist statements and what I call a lyric bio on my website: gkendall@artspan.com in one of the four galleries. Here at Saatchi Art I am adding works almost every day. Thank you, my wonderful followers. GK
