The painting was inspired by my water series, with which I paint water in as many different ways, as possible and with as many different tools as possible, to create an always new texture and character. Water has so many faces. During the painting process of layering many different blues and greens on top of each other by scratching them on the paper with a pallet knife, something seemed to shine through and, suddenly, some creature was born, that dived through the waves, but kept all its secrets, when it dissappeared again, as fast as it had shown up. The beholder is getting just a glimpse of it and is left with doubts and guesses, what it might be. The painting will be sent safely wrapped and rolled in a tube, accompanied with a certificate of authenticity. Size: 65 cm x 50 cm x 0,1 cm (25,59 inch x 19,68 inch x 0,039 inch) Please note: The sale of original artwork does not include the sale of copyright. All rights reserved.

Bettina Charlotte's career as an artist began after a long life of exploration. Although she has traveled around geographically too, Berlin/ Germany had been her base for 54 years - in 2013 this has changed as she decided to move to the Portuguese island of Madeira. Before starting her artistic career Bettina Charlotte has explored different professions: she travelled the world as flight attendant for Lufthansa, she learned to be and worked as professional photographer, studied adult education and worked with adults for many years, was self employed and worked as systemic life coach in Berlin, Germany – these professions have given her a wide horizon of different elements of life. Because of her constant drive to be creative, art has always accompanied her during times of other professions and in 2013 she finally decided to work as full time artist when she moved to the island of Madeira to be part of the local artist community. Perhaps because of all this together--getting to know so many earthly professions--her art has turned more into the abstract and sometimes metaphysical. Her special ability is intuitive painting in a gestural expressive way – she calls it “The Art to Listen to Your Heart” which she also teaches in workshops in Alentejo, on the Portuguese mainland. Bettina Charlotte spontaneously chooses the materials, tools and techniques - having fun and trusting her intuition to lead the way during the creative process is a very important factor for an authentic expression, she says. In early years she was inspired by Miro, Klimt, Klee, Picasso in painting and Rodin in sculpting. She lives and works in Portugal since 2013.
