About The Artwork
Black rhino are very much on the endangered species list. In this painting I want to support the plight of these animals in a way that is expressive but at the same time pacifying. The two rhinos are depicted in an abstract but still recognizable format. Multiple layers of colour and textures are used to build up the background and subject matter. The depth of colour is maximized with various layers of translucent washes with thick impasto providing the highlights. This particular style has evolved over many years to get to where it is today.
