About The Artwork
Inspired by Titian's Bacchus and Ariadne in London's National Gallery, I have painted an image that captures the emotional excitement felt by both the protagonists when Bacchus leaps off his chariot and declares his love for Ariadne. I paint series of works inspired by Renaissance artists that I am particularly fond of having taught Renaissance art history for many years. I hope to move the viewer to feel some of the passion of the story while looking at this painting.
