About The Artwork

If we're not our nationality, our religion, our profession, our past, then who we are? Question on a million. We can loose yourselves in any of that roles. But something inside of us, is always calling home. We have inner feeling, need - to find the truth, to find the answer to the question: who we are? What's the nature of things? What're the main laws of life and Universe? Till we not find, we aren't happy totally. Just for some time (while we're in love with someone, when we get a new thing, success in professional life, etc.) I've painted ukrainian girl in traditional costume. She's in despair, closing her face by hands. This image of ethno girl is a symbol of past. Past is dead and it has no force, until we give him strength with our thoughts. it's like resurrecting a corpse, over and over again. So, who we really are, if the past is dead and we can't hide our head in it any more? The artwork is covered by varnish.

Lidia Matviyenko lives and creates in Ukraine, sign her creations as Lidikart. Grew up in the Sokal city (Lviv region, Ukraine). Graduate from the Lviv National Academy of Arts (faculty of costume design). Creates graphics, illustrations, decorative paintings, digital collages and wall paintings. Lida also write intuitive texts for her artworks.  She always felt something boundless inside, the potential, she didn't know how to express. Fairy tales (she was in love with the illustrations and stories), myths and songs, made a great influence on her formation in childhood (mother's merit). One of the most interesting book was "Evil Power" (ukrainian mythology) by Vasyl Korolov-Staryj with a beautiful mermaid on cover page. Lida believed from the early childhood, that elves, fairys, mermaids and other creations exists, like other civilizations in parallels worlds or smth. She had a resonance for all this inside of her soul.  Explores psychological moments, human nature (as a deep creation), nature of her soul (core), cause-effect relationships (connections), unmanifested (Echard Tolle's term), divine, spiritual in us, the way we form our reality, and how we affect on the collective reality too. Self-knowledge and exploring of own essence, of nature of things - the most interesting reason to be here, discovered by artist by now.
