King Penguins in an Abstract-Impressionist Style Painting This is an interpretive painting of penguins on the march. The brushwork is free and you can see touches of the original drawing. I wanted to capture both the determination of these wonderful creatures and a sense of movement. I think penguins are one of the most interesting and beloved animals on our planet. If you've read or seen anything about their habits, you cannot help but admire their perseverance as they make their way across the ice for their yearly pilgrimage. Their appearance and movement are somewhat comical, but these creatures are examples for us for adapting to our environment. The colors are blues, purples, grays and white with brilliant orange and yellow markings. 14" x 18" x 1.5" This painting is on canvas attached to a 100% birch wood panel which has been stained a deep brown to complement the painting. It is ready to hang without further framing with a depth of 1.5" as shown above. Hanging hardware is included

I was once traveling with a close friend, photographing everything in sight, as any tourist does. I asked him, "Don't you want to take any photos?" He answered, "I like to remember things in my own way." What a profound statement - and one that I take seriously when I paint. My art is about remembering things . . . in my own way . . . and "disremembering" everything else. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, my artistic career began at an early age when I began painting with my mother on Sunday afternoons. Surrounded by art books, paintings and sculpture at home, I always knew I wanted to be a painter.
