About The Artwork
I went to see Philip Glass in concert a long time ago when I lived in Manhattan. He has been a respected artist, composer and musician in the back vault of my mind ever since. I enjoyed the extremely rich and pure minimalism of his performance. Now that I paint portraits of people who have influenced me and/or have had an impact on our society and culture, I wanted to celebrate Philip Glass in one of my portraits - combining the richness of gold with the minimalism of expression. My subjects are iconic people / topics that have had an impact on me or our society. I used pure 24K gold leaf on this painting - it emits a rich brilliance. The painting is signed on the back and has my “e” symbol on the front. The painting continues around the sides, so it is ready to hang unframed.
