About The Artwork

I've been drivin' all night, my hands wet on the wheel And there's a voice in my head that drives my heel It's my baby callin', sayin' I need you here And it's a half past four and I'm shiftin' gear When she is lonely and the longing gets too much She sends a cable coming in from above Don't need no phone at all We've got a thing that's called radar love We've got a wave in the air Radar love The radio's playin' some forgotten song Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong" The road has got me hypnotized And I'm speedin' into a nude sunrise When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough She sends her comfort coming in from above We don't need no letter at all We've got a thing that's called radar love We've got a line in the sky No more speed, I'm almost there Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care Last car to pass, here I go And the line of cars go down real slow-woah And the radio played that forgotten song Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong" And the newsman sang his same song Oh, one more radar lover gone When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough She sends her comfort coming in from above We don't need no letter at all We've got a thing that's called radar love We've got a line in the sky We've got a thing that's called radar love We've got a thing that's called Radar love ‘Radar Love’ by Golden Earring Songwriters: B. Hay / G. Kooymans "Radar Love" is a song by the Dutch rock band Golden Earring. The single version of "Radar Love" reached #10 on the Cash Box Top 100 and #13 in Billboard in the United States. It also hit the Top 10 in many countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, and Spain. The song is written from the point of view of a car or truck driver who says he has some sort of psychic relationship with his girlfriend - "radar love". He has sensed that she urgently wants him to be with her, which makes him reckless. Golden Earring was a Dutch rock band, founded in 1961 in The Hague as The Golden Earrings (the definite article was dropped in 1967, while the "s" was dropped in 1969). They achieved worldwide fame with their international hit songs "Radar Love" in 1973, which went to number one on the Dutch charts, reached the top ten in the United Kingdom, and went to number thirteen on the United States charts, "Twilight Zone" in 1982, and "When the Lady Smiles" in 1984. During their career they have had nearly 30 top-ten singles on the Dutch charts while releasing 25 studio albums. The band went through a number of early line-up changes, though the band reached a stable line-up in 1970, consisting of Rinus Gerritsen(bass and keyboards), George Kooymans (vocals and guitar), Barry Hay (vocals, guitar, flute and saxophone), and Cesar Zuiderwijk (drums and percussion), which remained unchanged until the band broke up in 2021 following the diagnosis of Kooymans with ALS. A number of other musicians also appeared in short stints with the band over its history as well. Source: Wikipedia

I’m (I am?) a self-taught artist, originally from the north suburbs of Chicago (also known as John Hughes' America). Born in 1984, I started painting in 2017 and began to take it somewhat seriously in 2019. I currently reside in rural Montana and live a secluded life with my three dogs - Pebbles (a.k.a. Jaws, Brandy, Fang), Bam Bam (a.k.a. Scrat, Dinki-Di, Trash Panda, Dug), and Mystique (a.k.a. Lady), and five cats - Burglekutt (a.k.a. Ghostmouse Makah), Vohnkar! (a.k.a. Storm Shadow, Grogu), Falkor (a.k.a. Moro, The Mummy's Kryptonite, Wendigo, BFC), Nibbler (a.k.a. Cobblepot), and Meegosh (a.k.a. Lenny). Part of the preface to the 'Complete Works of Emily Dickinson helps sum me up as a person and an artist: "The verses of Emily Dickinson belong emphatically to what Emerson long since called ‘the Poetry of the Portfolio,’ something produced absolutely without the thought of publication, and solely by way of expression of the writer's own mind. Such verse must inevitably forfeit whatever advantage lies in the discipline of public criticism and the enforced conformity to accepted ways. On the other hand, it may often gain something through the habit of freedom and unconventional utterance of daring thoughts. In the case of the present author, there was no choice in the matter; she must write thus, or not at all. A recluse by temperament and habit, literally spending years without settling her foot beyond the doorstep, and many more years during which her walks were strictly limited to her father's grounds, she habitually concealed her mind, like her person, from all but a few friends; and it was with great difficulty that she was persuaded to print during her lifetime, three or four poems. Yet she wrote verses in great abundance; and though brought curiosity indifferent to all conventional rules, had yet a rigorous literary standard of her own, and often altered a word many times to suit an ear which had its own tenacious fastidiousness." -Thomas Wentworth Higginson "Not bad... you say this is your first lesson?" "Yes, but my father was an *art collector*, so…"
