ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I had to face a life-altering decision when I painted this landscape in 2009. What was supposed to be a small rain shower was transformed into a raging storm when it was pointed out to me that rain does not fall up. Yes it does! It was also an interesting learning experience to see how I was able to manipulate soft pastel with a bristle paintbrush to paint my storm in a ice world.

I was born in South Africa and then studied for at Rhodes University under professor Brian Bradshaw. I lived in Northwestern British Columbia, Canada for 9 years. and during that time opened an art gallery (with gift shop), and a working studio where I painted and taught people to do the same. Although being a landscape painter using pastel has been a lifelong love, I now explore other media in an effort to express my strong thoughts and emotions\ .
