About The Artwork
This is a print I am offering of an original painting that I did. The painting has been sold to a collector. It belongs to the Rothkoesque series I have been working on. In which I photograph natural elements that resemble the master paintings done by Mark Rothko; I also do my own original paintings in the style of Rothko. I see pieces of Rothko paintings are in the shadows and reflections of everything we know. The energy of a Rothko painting surrounds us. As a painter, one of my goals is to try to keep this spirit alive. I find it to be inspirational and encouraging in it's simplicity. Paradoxically, attempting to resolve the mysteriously subdued complexity seems to be endlessly challenging. I like to believe that Rothko discovered some sort of spiritual force in doing his paintings, and this is something I would like to know more about.
