About The Artwork
"Salt" is a meditation on texture. Though inspired by textures found everywhere from salt-flats, to bark, to cracked skin, dried clay, perhaps a crust of some kind of pie or cobbler- this piece is not representative of any one thing, instead asking the viewer to consider what is familiar about it. The contrast of colors asks the viewer to consider how color forces us to reconsider the familiar. Ultimately, we are looking at something familiar, but also somewhat alien.
