Seeking Harmony Painting

‘Body and soul are one life, one essence. As the health of my soul becomes radiant and alive, the health of my body takes on a new vitality.’ My heart was broken from the loss of my partner. I felt distraught and recognized that I needed to mend my physical and spiritual health. In 2006 I chose to travel to Thailand and Indonesia to find guidance and strength. Over the course of four weeks I would arrive in Bangkok, take a train to Surat Thani, a ferry to Koh Sumai, fly to Phuket, and end with 7 days in Bali. The trip renewed my spirit as my journey toward wholeness was expedited by willing to use my experiences as tools to heal my inner wounds. My past experiences have made me who I am today as I continue to learn to live in harmony of body and mind. The carver of the statue is Nyoman Seter and was purchased from the Raka Rai Gallery during my trip to Bali, Indonesia. The painting represents how physical health rests on a spiritual foundation. The use of water is a form of cleansing, and each symbolic color has its own healing component. The six syllable ‘om mani padme hum‘ is an ancient mantra that is related to the embodiment of compassion.
