Seminar No. 3 Painting

'Seminar No. 3' is one of a series of small scale (15 cm x 15 cm) paintings on aluminium. These paintings can be attached directly to the wall using, for example, adhesive pads, or framed, or they can simply be propped (see studio view image). Signed and dated on reverse. An important component of my practice over the last few years has been producing small scale paintings on aluminium, which I began making during the first lockdown in 2020. At that time, my available ‘studio space’ consisted of the kitchen table at home, which also still served its primary purpose of being the place where we sat down for meals 3 times a day. What began spontaneously in reaction to the Corona lockdown, enabling me to work on multiple paintings simultaneously within a significantly confined area, quickly took on a life of its own as new 10 cm x 15 cm and 15 cm x 15 cm images proliferated. Some of these were developed into series, while others have remained as one-offs. Many of these paintings have been (or will be) exhibited at various times under the title '100 Paintings'. The configuration of '100 Paintings' is not fixed, and a new constellation of the work is presented each time it is exhibited.
