About The Artwork

After an illness contracted in 2021 and overcome in 2022 through a long journey of awareness and self-healing, the artist works on the concept of transformation by elaborating pictorial fragments whose structure can be traced back to the details of the Hubble telescope images, details of space that trigger a dialogue between the macrocosm and the human dimension. The projects are transformed into real postulates, analytical studies on a hypothetical psychology of the universe which inevitably reflects the psychology of man. The forms, the interventions create fractures of meaning crossed by sequences, vertical or horizontal series which follow one another as if to identify the repeated process of the facts which characterize the human experience and the energy cycle of the universe. The vertical and horizontal segments are also outlined as places of reflection, deposits of static adaptation, real centers of rational force in continuous dialogue, confrontation and clash with the instinct of the generating matrix. The artist selects traces of earth from Etna, dust, debris generated by the volcano during the eruption (elements that characterize and bring back the author’s birthplace), which he collects and uses to strengthen the instinctive, primordial act of nature which contrasts with the rigorous and reiterated structure of the habits that mark human existence.

Alex Munzone (was born in Catania, Italy, on October 16th, 1979) is an Italian artist and composer. Lives and works in Catania Statement After an illness contracted in 2021 and overcome in 2022 through a long journey of awareness and self-healing, the artist works on the concept of transformation by developing pictorial fragments whose structure can be traced back to the details of the images of the Hubble telescope, details of spaces that trigger a dialogue between the macrocosm and the human dimension. The projects are transformed into real postulates, analytical studies on a hypothetical psychology of the universe which inevitably reflects the psychology of man. The forms and interventions create fractures of meaning crossed by sequences, vertical or horizontal series that follow one another as if to identify the repeated process of facts that characterize human experience. The segments are coded as real "Morse" codes created to trigger a dialogue between man, nature and the universe. In their construction they emerge as places of reflection, deposits of static adaptation, true centers of rational force in continuous dialogue, comparison and clash with the instinct of the generating matrix. The artist selects traces of earth from Etna, dust, debris generated by the volcano during the eruption (elements that characterize and take us back to the author's birthplace), which he collects and uses to strengthen the instinctive and primordial act of nature which contrasts with the rigor and reiterated structure of the habits that mark human existence. https://alexmunzone.com/ https://www.instagram.com/alexmunzone/
