About The Artwork
I paint with coffee as it gives a beautiful colour, and connects the artwork directly to the history of migration of people around the world. What do we take with us when we travel, dislocate, migrate? Here the suitcase is imagined as taking with it our fears, shadows of past trauma, of the overwhelm that can be felt when leaving our 'previous life' and home in order to 'start anew' someplace else.
