I am fascinated with relationships and how miscommunication leads to misunderstanding. When researching the way men structure their words in the mind versus how women use their minds, there is a disparity. Women use 20,000 words on average a day while men use 7000. Men look for concrete, black and white solutions and women look for the gray, more nuances in feelings. These structures demonstrate that Mars and Venus are indeed different, to coin a phrase from a book about why men and women don't always seek the same solutions. The blue lines are the female connections as described by neurologists when describing verbal connections and the black structure is reminiscent of how men's verbal cognition works. This is a tongue and cheek composition. We need to be able to laugh at the differences in view points, and that is the intention of this piece. This artwork is an award winning piece when it was chosen for a competition in 2017 for the Alexandria Art Museum in LA.
