Skyfall - The Mist Painting

A beautiful smokey woodland semi abstract set in early Spring before the buds of new growth unfurl, the soft golden glow evocative of dawn mist. This abstract landscape painting is one of a series by Cornish Artist Lindsey Keates. Ballet dancers of the sky! What are Murmurations? It is a mass aerial stunt - thousands of birds all swooping and diving in unison. It's completely breathtaking to witness. We think that starlings do it for many reasons. Grouping together offers safety in numbers – predators such as peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotising flock of thousands. They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information, such as good feeding areas. They gather over their roosting site, and perform their wheeling stunts before they roost for the night. The Murmurations Collection has been created because Lindsey has a fascination of the birds' aerial stunts; the way they create shapes and angles - "its a unique abstract". The birds overlap and create darker patterns in different places and the sound can be deafening and you feel part of their flock! The birds "own the stage of the sky"! Lindsey is a member of Acid.
