For a long time, the inspiration for my paintings came from observing the impact of societal issues on individuals and its effect. However, after moving abroad my state of mind shifted from examining the struggles of society to a point of turning within and looking at the emotional and personal shifts I experience when encountering various challenges which frequently involved tackling with a very individual feeling of emptiness and loneliness. This process inevitably had an impact on my work. Instead of focusing on broader topics, I’m orienting to more subjective, specific happenings that are more alive in a sense. Born in Ankara, Turkey in 1991, I began my fine art studies in 2012. Painting under the general theme of depression and internal questioning, I get inspired by various internal and external sources. My recent works depict the struggle of an individual witnessing societal collapse, myself, being stuck between the issues of the society and the personal emotions derived from these happenings. The dilemma of this internal process is expressed through nude figures painted in a contemporary way. I am currently based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
