Inspired by astronomy and the quiet beauty of distant planetary deserts, this painting imagines a tranquil alien landscape beneath the soft glow of two crescent worlds. Antonio José Quevedo Cabello (Toni Quevedo) is a Spanish painter and amateur astronomer based in Alicante, Spain.

He has been painting since his youth, developing his artistic practice independently since 1990. His fascination with astronomy and the immensity of the universe has gradually become the central language of his work.Inspired by the beauty, silence and mystery of the cosmos,

Quevedo reimagines nebulae, galaxies, stellar phenomena and distant worlds through painting. Rather than depicting astronomy only as celestial observation, he creates imagined landscapes in which the viewer seems to stand on another world and contemplate the universe from within it.

Working primarily in oil, as well as acrylic and soft pastel, he explores light, atmosphere, distance and transformation. He often describes a nebula as a “cosmic signature” — the luminous trace left by a star — combining scientific curiosity with artistic imagination.

In 2026, his work gained growing international visibility through exhibitions, juried selections, publications and international art platforms. He is an Artist-Level Member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA), and his works have been presented through international exhibitions and platforms including Artsy.

His continuing aim is to build a body of work that invites viewers to imagine humanity’s relationship with the cosmos — not as distant spectators, but as explorers standing at the threshold of unknown worlds.
