The SOULMATES painting is a visual reflection by the artist of the emotions she lived through, and of the experience of human intimacy and interactions. Bright silhouettes of women and men on a black background sensually explore these concepts. The works are united around the understanding of the soul and its infinite, all-encompassing range of feelings, and also around the finiteness of life.

Ukraine
Katerina was born in Ukraine but lived most of her conscious life in East Asia. "I have always been fascinated by the ability of the people of East Asia to be happy, regardless of external circumstances. Populations from Western cultures are so busy achieving the wrong goals that they miss the beautiful moments of life. I have always wanted to live with a feeling of fullness that comes from within, and not achieved through external factors. " She graduated art school in Dnipro and received a higher engineering education. In 2013, she left her homeland, traveling to the picturesque Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and China. In 2019, her first participation in group exhibitions took place in Dubai. In March 2020, she represented Ukraine at an artist competition in the United Arab Emirates. Due to the social restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 quarantine in 2020, she returned to Kyiv where she immersed herself in deep introspection, and allowed that experience to influence the creation of new works of art. Her art is technically reliant on the use of alcoholic inks on synthetic paper. Such inks spread, soak into the texture of the paper, and dry, such that drops and stains take on exquisite shapes. Chimeric contours and mixed layers form multicolored auras on the surface. "In my paintings I want to depict invisible and intangible things. I paint energy, thoughts, feelings, and they are much brighter than the physical bodies of my characters."
