About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by Margaret Atwood's "oryx and Crake". It is part of the series, called "Animaly". “Animaly” is a series of paintings about unlucky accidents in Genetic engineering. These depictions are human chimeras, half-human/ half-beasts, deformed, confused, unaware and displaced in time. I wanted to express the fear which exists in all of us, but also a beauty of imperfection, of animal spirit, so seemingly lost and primitive in comparison to the sophistication of our highly advanced technological world . . . but at the same time so wise. I want the viewers to understand and engage in the questions I am trying to ask.
