Painting: Acrylic on Paper.
The creative process of René Serrano starts with the omnipresent ingredient of the music. Audiophile and vinyl lover; René understand his painting process as a sound-landscape that write in every layer of color in the painting.
The Vinyl record as a muse; Serrano understands the process to play a Vinyl record in the turntable as a ritual. The process of listening to the music in high resolution seems an investment of time in these days of “fast food” services.
Subjects like the ocean, the beach life, the summer, or life on the coast are constant. In this case; the material is a recyclable paper made by towels from touristic hotels of the region.
René creates abstract paintings and prints which highlight those wonders of daily life that go unnoticed; the moments that shape our trajectories but are so minute, they are oftentimes overlooked.
His works revolve around ideas about banal events, and he views daily life as an altar for meditation and fascination. This fascination translates to pure logical forms like a circle or a square and to simple brush strokes and lines. The harmonious compositions are a tribute to the passage of time in a person's life, a life that is shaped by interactions, occurrences, and encounters that color our realities and affects our decision making.
René Serrano´s works have been exhibited individually and collectively in Mexico, Belgium, Arab Emirates, Ireland, and the USA. Along with his projects, he has taught and directed programs at several universities in Mexico.
