About The Artwork

This painting “Alphabet of Sages’ is created with conte crayon and colored ink. It is a composition composed of ‘ancient’ letters that with scrutiny and imagination reveal the effort and commitment of the early sages to share their wisdom and prophetic vision of human beings, their behavior and guidelines to follow that would shape human behavior in a search for personal decency, ethics, and a collective responsibility for shared values and expectations. These sages of past were not distracted by the contemporary visual technology of TV, movies, Netflix, etc or the like, as well as not possessed by the individual ownership of computers. Their use of an alphabet, with special letters and the written word was their medium to express their vision and philosophy, hoping to leave their text behind for either future generations or for other neighboring and curious civilizations. The internal search for wisdom and truth by these historic sages has always fascinated me. In this painting I was inspired to pursue a personal goal to be able to render and visualize the alphabet of these sages, and revive the magic of their letters and the sensual forms and shapes they possessed., utilizing earth colors as well as a vivid blue to maximize the contrast and effect.
