The Cross Painting

A part of the Spontaneous series, created in tempera. Differently from other paintings, which resemble watercolor paintings, this one has a more dense pigment usage and thus yields different results. What comes out is, in my opinion, a full emanation of light that seems to be a cross, and shows a rainbow of color options as it bursts into our view field. You can of course see something else in it, as it is abstract. Some people see mandalas in it, some don't. It is definitely a well centered yet rich painting. I invite you to find meaning it it. Medium: My paintings in aquarelle are made with a Zen like process that takes out inspiration from a specific moment. I use diluted tempera (guache) that behaves like aquarelle once it is prepared so, and I base my paintings on quality paper (200g paper, 300g paper, and in some cases cotton paper - which we know is so exclusive). I use tons of water, and tons is a more correct statement than a lot of, so the pigment has a chance to create intricacies in nuances even without too much of my meddling in. As you can see I am guided by the process, in which I intervene, but I heavily rely on the picture to develop itself as we go. Thus I call it a Zen like process.
