About The Artwork
We are locked down. We are craving physical contact. This is an expressive reaction to the current situation - and it is a theme I return to often, namely, mark making as writing. Drawing on the floor’ using both hands simultaneously, I am conscious of trying to control my unconscious by focusing on the spaces in between the marks. It is based on an old photograph of many people packed into a space. The energy in the room is palpable and the people are squashed close. A receding dream for us right now...
