About The Artwork

Limited Edition Giclee on ready-to-hang canvas with white or black edges (please specify when ordering). Proofed, signed and numbered by the artist, with certificate of authenticity. Painting Symbolism: I wanted to illustrate what letting go of the pain of our pasts might look like. Opening her umbrella in an act of graceful surrender, she releases the sorrows and sadness that had once roosted in her heart. The birds, which represent her solidified grief, cast no shadow as they are illusory in nature to the outside world, though very real to her. Such is it also with guilt and regret. We cannot evolve until we acknowledge and let go of that which binds us to the past. Only then will there be room in our lives to experience a new reality.

About the Artist Award-winning oil painter Paul Bond was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California and Costa Rica. Paul Bond's art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, his paintings merge symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements with realistic atmospheres to unveil a world where everything is possible. At times, they simply express a whimsical aspect of life. Yet most works also carry deeper metaphysical and philosophical messages illuminating the world of our dreams and subconscious thoughts, fears and hopes. Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in galleries, museums and cultural centers, including The Gateway Museum and The San Diego Art Institute. His paintings are now in private collections throughout the US, and worldwide. Corporate collections include Fox, Warner Bros and NBC Studios, Royal Caribbean International, Marriott Hotels, Scripps and Stanford Hospitals; and his works are featured in numerous contemporary art publications.
