About The Artwork
Summer solstice sings a song of magic and power, creativity and enchantment. I listened to "Summer Solstice: A Windham Hill Collection" when I worked on this piece. Streams of colour and light are composed of fireflies that dance to the beautiful music of creation. Surround yourself with magic; meditate on the power of your thought and intention. This painting on canvas was done by pouring a cement slurry on canvas, and mixing it with diluted pigments, layer by layer. Lines were cut into the hardening cement with a palette knife, to emphasize streams of light. The colour palette is rich and sumptuous, with fluorescent and metallic dusts worked into the surface. Many nuances of the colours are lost in the photo of the artwork - its surface is rich and multi-hued, when you see it in person.
