The Stop Painting

Part of Postcards from the City collection. This is an place which I passed when walking around to a friend's flat. It is simply a lit bus stop, a place of waiting, of meeting and hopeful travel. Unlike many of my paintings it feels calm and is without any potential menace. It is rooted and made peaceful a number of things including the interlocking grid pattern. I like the way the exterior space is lit and quite friendly, and that it is echoed in the reference to the homely, in the warmly lit home albeit with curtains closed.
