About The Artwork

When we were canoeing on the Ala-Archa Reservoir, I noticed some boys frolicking by the water's edge, and their sight touched me to the depths of my soul. For these boys, there was nothing but the "Now," their movements filled with exuberant joy and freedom. I asked the owner of the canoe if we could alter our course to get closer to them so that I could take photographs. I requested that we not get too close. I was afraid that they would notice us, become self-conscious, and then that very spark would be lost. And yet, the boys did spot us! However, they were anything but flustered. On the contrary, they found it highly amusing how I waved my hand to them; they whispered something secretive into each other's ears and began to revel even more. I wished to convey the atmosphere of childhood, where every detail, every stroke of the brush, and every mark from the palette knife brim with pure sincerity. This painting beckons the viewer to return to simplicity and remember the child they once were; how they gazed upon the world with innocent eyes and knew how to savor moments of joy. The painting serves as a reminder that even now, in a world where worries may seem boundless, there is always room for sunshine and happiness.

As a Kyrgyz woman from Central Asia, in an environment of absurd limitations and despotic authority, I find myself fighting for the right of self-expression. I capture moments, feelings and situations. My works are different in terms of the mood and technique, but utterly similar in one thing: they all tell a story of how it is important to be honest with yourself, especially when you live in an environment which pays no attention to art and artists, and at best wants to enroll you for entertainment or propaganda.   I am deeply interested in studying psychological aspects, social issues, and how our universe is structured. I believe in certain things that science cannot explain yet. My artworks are a reflection on a variety of topics, from societal injustice and existential contemplations on life and death to simple admiration of the nature around us. As a highly sensitive person, I explore different aspects of the world through the observation of feelings. For me art is spontaneity and endless adventure.
