Robinson is a Montreal-born artist working in the Mile-End. A self-taught creator, she has gained acclaim as a sculptor from her very beginnings, in the late 1990s. As of 2008, Robinson has been exclusively dedicating herself to oil and acrylic painting. Highly active on the local arts scene for over twenty years, she has earned a solid reputation throughout the country for her creative endeavours. Robinson has exhibited her work in over forty solo and group shows, and has participated in numerous artistic events. A co-founder and co-organiser of the XL biennial in Montreal,, as well as the multidisciplinary CreatiC Circle (2002), Robinson has also taught sculpture at the prestigious Saidye Bronfman Center for the Arts. In 2007, the Saint-Jean-sur Richelieu Arts Festival awarded her with an Honorable Mention for her professionnal achievements. The artist is sought out to create album covers, and has notably created the artwork for Karkwa’s Live album, Sagot’s Piano Mal, as well as Robi Kuster’s Rooster; she has also designed and sculpted the Cardozo-Coderre prize. Julie Robison’s work has been featured in diverse publications, notably Décover, The Montreal Mirror, The Hour, La Presse, the Journal de Montréal, and in the CBC online Cultural Guide.
