Christine Viens paints contemporary figurative works in series inhabited by humans and animals. " I am driven towards expressing emotions ingrained in our body language. I wish to share my visual thoughts on our vulnerability and resilience as living creatures with a common fate." After leading a career in judicial administration while developing an artistic practice, Christine Viens has devoted herself entirely to visual arts since 2009. She currently lives and works in Montreal, Canada. In 2014, she co-founded the Académie des Beaux-arts de Montréal, where she taught and served as Director for two years until 2022. Introduced to drawing and painting as a teenager, she trained with several artists in Quebec City, where she studied law and Montreal. She perfected her techniques during internships in Paris, New York and elsewhere in the United States. Since 2004, she had several group exhibitions and solo shows. Her paintings are in many private collections.
