About The Artwork

This series is the artist`s discourse on human vulnerability, cloning organs, fear of death and immortality. The name of the series correlates us to the paradise, heavenly garden, forbidden fruit, the loss of immortality and eternal pursuit to regain it. In the recent series, I have been inspired by the works of Jane Saville and Lucian Freud, Alexander Deineka, as well as Renaissance artists. I always admired the old masters, and I like using their strictly phased system to create my large canvases. In my work, I strictly follow the technique of the old masters. I make a compositional sketch for each work, then a drawing, then a grisaille in a brown-white tone, and only then, if necessary, I apply a layer of colour. This very laborious technique creates the effect of naturalness of the flesh. Also, it makes possible to enlarge fragmentation and the creation of large-size paintings. Art for me is a necessary condition for existence, on the one hand, protection from external conditions, on the other hand, it is the facility with which I explore life.

I am a London-based visual artist who is deeply inspired by the Baroque epoch and its parallels with the contemporary moment. As a child born during the Chernobyl Disaster, I have always been fascinated by the quest for immortality through science and art, and the vulnerability and strength of the body. My background in Baroque painting and theatre design has heavily influenced my contemporary art practices, allowing me to create bold and punkish works that are not afraid to tackle contemporary issues. My aim is to make painting popular again, just like it was in the Baroque times, creating works that leave a lasting impression and provide catharsis. Drawing inspiration from fashion icons like Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, I seek to push the boundaries of painting and make it a relevant and contemporary art form. I am an active participant in the London art scene, with my most recent exhibition being a solo show at Hampstead Art School in April 2023. I am constantly seeking to challenge myself and push the boundaries of what is possible with painting, and I hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
