Tracing herself... Painting

A contemporary oil painting influenced by the Neapalitan Trilogy by Elena Ferrante. This painting, though I was strategic in my process, is an outward expression of the love and chaos that I found in these novels. The Trilogy follows the lives of two young women though their journey in life. The strongest theme in the books is the idea that life can change in what feels like instantly; your love, your house, your apartment, your goals all can be taken away and then what are you left with? How do you channel the feelings of passion and anger and normality while reaching your goals? How do you handle decision making through passion when the responsibilities you once desired and worked so hard for don't fulfill you? When the excitement of normalcy wears off, how do you feed your soul? These paintings bring those questions into sight
